It is our pleasure to invite you to submit an abstract for the 25^th Australian Space Research Conference (ASRC), to be held in South Australia at Adelaide University. It is planned to be a three-day conference in the week of September 28 to October 2, 2026.

This conference is organised by the National Space Society of Australia, Mars Society Australia, and members of the Australian space research community with a strong heritage of organising 18 successful meetings to date.

The ASRC is the primary annual meeting for Australian space research. It welcomes researchers, engineers, educators, industry professionals, policymakers, and other workers from across the academic, industry, and government parts of the space sector, and is not limited to Australian research. International participants are most welcome.

Conference Scope

The scope of the conference covers both fundamental and applied research related to space science, engineering and technologies, including the following:

• Space science, including space and atmospheric physics, Earth observation and remote sensing, planetary sciences & space-based astronomy and astrophysics;
• Astrobiology;
• Space medicine, space life sciences and human habitability;
• Space engineering and technology, including communications, navigation, space operations, propulsion, robotics and AI, and the design, integration, testing, and operation of spacecraft and their key subsystems;
• Space resource extraction and utilisation, including moon and asteroid mining;
• Space industry and space business;
• Space archaeology, indigenous sky knowledge, and archaeoastronomy;
• Space situational awareness (SSA), space domain awareness (SDA), planetary defence & space weather;
• Space law (international and domestic), space policy, and space ethics;
• Space sector workforce development, education, and outreach.

• Closing date for ASRC abstracts 17 August 2026

• Acceptance of ASRC abstracts 21 August 2026

• Draft Program Available 24 August 2026

• Conference Starts 29 September 2026

• Closing date for written paper submission 19 October 2026 (optional, for the Proceedings)

Student prizes are awarded to the most outstanding oral and poster presentations in several categories (e.g. HDR , UG). Winners are announced at the end of the conference.

A female Early Career Researcher award is also presented to recognise professional achievement in space science and to promote STEM diversity and inclusion.

Full written papers may be submitted post-conference for peer review and publication in conference proceedings. These will carry an ISBN number.
