The International Conference on Informatics in Schools: Situation, Evolution, and Perspectives (ISSEP) is an established international research forum for researchers, educators, policy makers, and practitioners working to advance informatics education from early childhood through secondary and higher education. The conference fosters an inclusive and collaborative platform to share rigorous research, innovative pedagogies, curriculum initiatives, and evidence-based practice in the evolving field of informatics education.

Submission Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit high-quality manuscripts reporting original unpublished research and recent developments in the topics related to the scope of the conference. All papers will be double-blind peer-reviewed by Programme Committee members.

We invite submissions of original research and practice-oriented manuscripts addressing key issues in informatics education, with particular emphasis on emerging and high-impact themes such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Data Science, and Data Literacy for learners and teachers in the context of school informatics.

Work submitted to ISSEP should be novel and material that has been previously published should not be republished unless the work has been significantly revised. Note, however, that while novel work is highly valued, constructive replication of previous studies can also be a significant contribution, and a new interpretation or evaluation of previously published work can make a good contribution.

• Full Papers, divided into two subcategories (up to 12 pages):
  • Research papers (e.g., empirical, qualitative, quantitative, theory building, research methods, comparative studies, transferability of methods and results from other disciplines)
  • Best practice papers/country reports/experience reports
• Short Papers, divided into two subcategories (up to 8 pages):
  • Position/discussion papers
  • Work in progress
• Poster proposals (2-4 pages)
• Workshop proposals (2-4 page)

The page limitations must be honored and include references. For full and short papers, an optional appendix can be added, whose length must not exceed 2 pages.

Selected (top quality) full papers will be published in the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. The other accepted papers will be published in the local proceedings.

Publication

The selected best ISSEP 2026 full papers will be published Springer LNCS, the remaining accepted contributions will be published in local online proceedings.

Venue

The conference will be held in Tallinn University.

Tallinn University (TLU) is the youngest public university in Estonia with about 7,000 students and more than 400 academic staff. ISSEP 2026 is hosted by the School of Digital Technologies, which offers programmes and research closely aligned with the conference, including Human-Computer Interaction, Digital Learning Games, AI for Sustainable Societies, Educational Technology, IT Management, and teacher education in mathematics & informatics.

The conference will be held on the TLU city-centre campus, within walking distance of the medieval Old Town and the harbour, and a short ride from the airport.
